So, I’m going to start this off by saying I’m doing well financially. I have enough to get what I need and a bit extra. I’m also only 18 and look about 15.
So, my rich cousins are throwing a fancy party for family, friends, and whoever else. Attendance for family is mandatory; I don’t agree with that, but whatever. I asked about the dress code, and she responded saying it was dressy.
I could submit five dress choices because my cousin needed to approve the choices. All my dress choices were between 40-60, and all things I’d wear for other occasions or for an AU cosplay. She responded saying all of my choices were “too out of date and not fancy enough.” My choices were all 50’s-70’s prom evening dresses.
She then sent me six links to dresses, the cheapest one being 500 and the most expensive being 870. While I could budget and get the 500 or the 650 dresses, I personally hated them and know I’d never wear them again. I won’t even spend 50 on a dress I’d wear once; why would I spend 500 on a dress I’d wear once?
So, I told her I wouldn’t spend that much on a dress I wouldn’t wear again. Her response was, “It’s the dress code.” So, I told her I don’t care about her stupid dress code, and she can shove it up where her head is.
If she wants me at her party, she should stop acting like an entitled rich brat because not everyone’s daddy can financially support them into their 40s and afford things that cost hundreds of dollars just because.
